Woman at the dentist

PS v Dr MD

PS v Dr MD

£30,000 Settlement

This was a complex dental claim involving treatment provided by a General Dental Practitioner from June 2006 until February 2007.

Pryers Solicitors took the case on and with expert evidence, identified that the Defendant failed to sufficiently heed radiographs of June & August 2006 which demonstrated an inadequate root filling at LR2 and therefore incorrectly placed a crown on this tooth. The client suffered from recurrent abscesses and associated pain and ultimately required the tooth extracting.

Our expert also considered the Defendant failed to appropriately crown or negligently fitted crowns to eight of the Claimant’s other teeth. The Defendant also failed to secure a veneer to a further tooth.

A report from a Consultant Restorative Dentist, confirmed that the client would require extensive and very costly restorative treatment, totalling a little under £21,000.

Dental Protection put forward a counter offer of £25,000 to settle the case. We managed to negotiate with Dental Protection and settlement was agreed at £30,000. The client was very pleased to accept this.
