Mark Mason with his gold medal from the Special Olympics - Pryers' very own Olympic hero

World Autism Awareness Day at Pryers Solicitors

The following information has been provided by Mark Mason, an employee at Pryers Solicitors, about his experience with Autism, on World Autism Awareness Day.

Today is World Autism Day and I want to share little bit about myself.

My name is Mark Mason. I’m an Administrator for Cavity Wall & Mis-Selling Mortgage teams.

I was diagnosed with Autism when I was a child. Autism is learning difficulty and means that sometimes people struggle to communicate. For example, some people struggle with eye contact.

Autism Awareness is important not just for Pryers, but for all the world.

I got a job at Pryers with the help of an agency called United Response. They help people with learning difficulties to find the right job and helped by going to interviews with me. As an administrator, I help with administration tasks to support the Cavity Wall & Mortgage Mis-selling teams. Since I started working at Pryers back in June 2018, I have enjoyed everyday of it, and hope to continue to work with Pryers for many years.

I also go to lots of clubs. I get support from the agency to take me to the meetings. I really enjoy them, because I like to socialise and take photographs.

Now I’ve got a job at Pyers, I am hoping to get a place of my own. At the moment I live with my mum. I’m hoping to go back to Malton, where I grew up during my childhood days.

For more information about autism look at the Autism NHS & National Autistic Society websites.

Mark has also competed at the Special Olympics many times. Last August, Mark won a gold medal in the Boccia team event and was the Captain for the Yorkshire and Humberside Boccia team.

Pryers Solicitor’s Chief Executive Officer, Neil Fearn, said “Mark has made everyone at Pryers incredibly proud.”
