Double Deal Success at Quartz Point

BUPA and Pryers Solicitors sign-up at York city centre scheme

Leeds, September 2010 – Acting on behalf of The Evans Property Group, the office agency teams at CB Richard Ellis and Lawrence Hannah have secured 2 new tenants at the flagship Quartz Point office development in York.

BUPA has taken 2,188sq ft of second floor office space on a 5 year lease and Pryers Solicitors has leased 5,426sq ft on the ground floor on a 10 year term. Lambert Smith Hampton acted for BUPA and Pryers Solicitors represented themselves with legal advice from Chris Barton at Hague and Dixon Solicitors.

The 11,547sq ft, Grade A, BREEAM rated Quartz Point office building was the only new build development to complete in York city centre last year with nothing currently on site within the centre. The acclaimed building, which is strategically positioned on The Stonebow just a 10 minute walk from York Train Station, has defied market conditions with only 1 floor extending to 3,933sq ft now available for occupancy at a quoting rent of £18 per sq ft.

Pryers Solicitors has relocated around 40 staff from offices at Northminster Business Park in Poppleton due to ongoing company expansion. Principal, Ian Pryer, said; “We had outgrown our former premises as we have more than doubled in size over the last couple of years. We were looking for a high quality base in the heart of the city from which we can serve our growing and valued client base. Quartz Point provides an enhanced working environment for our dedicated team and enables us to continue expanding the business in line with demand.”

Director of Office Agency at CB Richard Ellis, Jonathan Shires, said; “Quartz Point is a superbly designed building which offers Grade A standard office accommodation, a rarity within York city centre, on competitive terms. The lettings to BUPA and Pryers represent fantastic news for the property market and signal further confidence that well located developments of the right quality and terms will prove successful in attracting occupiers.”

Partner at Lawrence Hannah, Richard Flanagan, continued; “The success of Quartz Point demonstrates the appeal that York city centre has as a business destination. The decision from Pryers to locate from an out of town location to within the city is testament to this and the modern building perfectly matched their requirements. We are now looking forward to securing a letting on the remaining floor and achieving full occupation of the building.”
