Through our clients, we regularly see the life changing effects of spinal cord injury. The SIA provide support, guidance, and education, with the aim of empowering people with injuries to return to their previous life as much as possible. They are always there to support those injured, from day one, for the rest of their lives.
The Spinal Injuries Association is the Pryers Charity of the Year for 2017 with fundraising events taking place throughout the year.
Before the half marathon, Sophie Rudge, Paralegal at Pryers, had this to say: “After successfully completing the ‘couch to 5k’ in December, I decided when the opportunity arose to keep punishing myself by quadrupling that distance, all in the name of charity!
“Since then it’s been a very time consuming but almost enjoyable exercise, out for a run 3 or 4 times a week in all weathers. There has been blood, sweat, and I’m sure there are tears to come.
“I hope to raise a respectable amount for the Spinal Injuries Association, who do amazing work to help those who have suffered catastrophic injuries to achieve their goals and continue living their lives.”
Rachael Davies, Paralegal at Pryers, also commented before the half marathon: “After a little bit of persuading, I have decided to take on the challenge of The Leeds Half Marathon on Sunday 14th May. This is not only a great personal challenge for me but I am grateful that it has also given me the opportunity to further support Pryers Charity of The Year- The Spinal Injuries Association.
“Through our work, we have seen the life changing effects spinal cord injury can have on individuals and their families. The SIA provide an amazing service, empowering people with injuries to return to their previous life as much as possible through support, guidance, and education. I know that the thought of being able to contribute in a small way, to the work of the SIA, will definitely get me through the difficult 13.1miles.
“I often enjoy going out for (shorter!) runs around the North Yorkshire countryside. I have been completing a training plan over the last few months and have only ever taken part in one half marathon before. Therefore, I am aiming to beat my previous time and get round in as close to 2 hours as possible!”
